I really love to go hiking and walking, especially in the mountains, because I think there is nothing better than getting out and getting some fresh air into the lungs and seeing the glories of nature. Affordable health care is becoming a concern to many Americans nowadays. Some employers for hardworking employees have had to cut back on some of the health care for everyone because of the rising costs and working with a budget. My work health care plan was, until the latter part of 2006, great but now the benefits it supplied have been reduced. Ok, so many other people benefit, including my company, but my paycheck is considerably lighter now that the premium has doubled to keep my family on the policy. OK, so my health care is still respectable but the new company that we have is not as good as our previous. Many workers saw their paychecks reduce when this new affordable health care scheme come into force. I know this because my old plan paid all of my hospital expenses when I had my little girl just over 4 years ago. I sat and worked out the cost of this new plan and if I were to stay in hospital now and have a baby it would cost around 4,000 dollars out of my own pocket.There are also the co-pays to consider, another cost in addition to the hospital fees I would have to pay. Fortunately, more affordable health care scheme are being started to help those less fortunate. Some people are even able to get free health care, also single mothers or families where an employment scheme isn't available are having the opportunity to join low cost plans. The problem is when a small number of people take advantage of a system that was designed for those that needed it most.For many people desperately trying to improve their situation these affordable health care plans are a life-line but to others they are just an easy option. We often forget who is ultimately paying for these schemes; us, the taxpayer. By switching providers, it was my company that realized the true advantages of this low cost option and a number of employees. However, their money saving technique wasn't good news to employees because suddenly we were making up for their cost cutting endeavor - by seeing less money in our paychecks. If we are to help the worst affected, we need to start looking at long term options for Americans in providing cost effective, affordable health care.
