The first thing to do for investing in tax lien certificates or tax deeds is to get the list of properties that are in the tax sale. The taxing authorities here are multifold (Municipality, County, State, Fire District…) but the collection is usually being done by the County in which the property is located in. You can look in the newspaper, call the tax collector, or go to a web site that sells tax sale lists. One type of investment that is growing in popularity is the buying of Tax Liens on Real Estate. Sometimes you can find this list online, on the tax collector's website. In most counties the list has to be published in the local paper 2-4 weeks before the sale. You can go and attend the Tax Lien Auction and buy one or many tax lien certificates and collect a high interest rate until the owner pays off. The first way to find out about tax sales coming up in your area is to read the legal notices in the local newspaper. Most counties have to post an announcement about the tax sale, as well as the list of properties that are being offered for sale, in the local paper anywhere from two to four weeks before the sale.
I am new to this investing as a whole. I consider investing in Texas tax deed, and what I think is that this is somewhat of a risky nature. I can spare anywhere from 5000 to 10000 dollars, and is willing to invest time on improving a property also. Is 5-10 K enough capital to gain a significant return? Do I have to get a quitclaim in order to make it quick? Thanks for your time.

Someone told me about a company that is based in GA and I wish to know that if anyone else has used their service. They are called the GT Research. It seems like that they do all research on all the sales. Just because it sounds satisfying on papers, it certainly need not be a good deal. Does anyone have had any experience in this area or with this or such other companies? Thanks!
