As a woman, I am fairly easy to please when it comes to my Bible. I prefer the NIV translation and, while I adore the poetry of the KJV, I find it hard reading. bibles for women can be as feminine or as utilitarian as you please - some of us prefer plain, while others look for fancy extras and colors. The main thing to look for is a good translation that you can understand easily. It is also a good idea to have a concordance or some supplemental materials to help you to better understand the Word of the Lord.

Many Bible students wonder why bible language study books are even necessary — if you have a good translation of the Bible, a concordance and a Bible commentary — and perhaps a Bible dictionary, why would you need anything else?  Simply put, for many Bible students bible language study books are a necessity because it is only these types of resources that present in-depth information that deals with the original languages of the Bible: Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek.  These types of study books serve to explain the meaning of important words as they are used in those languages — information which is sometimes sorely lacking in other types of Bible study tools.  You might say that these resources fill a necessary gap.

when evaluating one of several Bible atlases for purchasing, all other things being equal, you should purchase one that is larger and provides more in-depth information.  Some Bible atlases are actually just a rehash of the scholarship of yesteryear — what you are looking for in a Bible Atlas is up-to-date and relevant information that is also detailed.  When it comes to purchasing a Bible Atlas, a good rule of thumb is: the more detailed, the better.
